After becoming a big fan of
Chloe's blog a few weeks back, I knew that I wanted to start using watercolors. I've had a $5 pan set for a while, but I never got round to using it and always did watercolors with my watercolor pencils without water!! So I got out all the the supplies and here's what happened.......
I'm using a cheap pan set by Reeves Art Supplies but I really hope to buy a pan set by a brand called
Van Gogh. For paper I used a
das watercolor pad, but I would like to try some other papers as it's quite expensive. But it's very nice to use as the paint sits on it very nicely, and it's quite thick. I could almost say it's watercolor card stock. My brushes, I have no idea where they are from, so sorry. I'm using one brush that I got in a art set for Christmas and one that I bought with my watercolor pencils. I 'highlighted' with my Derwent Watercolor pencils which I have quite a few colors. I didn't add water over them because I wanted crisp outlines.
As it's hard to tell what color is what on the pan, I made a little color chart for each color and labelled what number on the pan it was. It's a great reference when mixing colors.
And if you are a really observant, you will see that the cat picture in my new design is done in watercolors. Hand drawn by me and scanned in. xx Harri

Hey Harri,
ReplyDeleteSo much fun! I found these watercolour pencils lying around the other day so I started drawing and painting a little with them too. My things are not nearly as cute as yours though! I love the cat, it's really neat!
