5 tips for a better morning

We are nearing the end of the first semester of school down here in New Zealand and I know most of you up north are in your summer holidays but we all know how hard mornings can be.

Coming into the end of term, I'm so tired and the mornings are getting harder and harder since the idea of staying under the covers is just too good. So I've put together 5 tips that can make your morning a bit better.

1. Eat a good breakfast
You've heard it all before but it's true as true. Every morning before school, I have a berry smoothie and it's great to have in the morning rush. Having fruit and susitanable food is very important - don't just go for an Up&Go, they are no good!

Here's my berry smoothie recipe. Obviously just blend all the ingredients together, grab a straw and drink!

Harri's Berry Smoothie

1 banana
3 - 4 frozen strawberries (or any other berry)
2 tbsp strawberry yoghurt
3/4 cup apple juice
2 tbsp protein powder (optional)

2. Drink water
Something I forget to do in the morning is drink some water and when Iget to school I realise how thirsty I am. If you aren't the biggest fan of drinking water, try some of my infused water recipes to get your day going.

3. Plan ahead the night before
Lay out anything that you need for the morning, the night before so you don't have to think about it in the morning when you are half asleep. Lay out any school books (anything that's really important put under your phone!), your sports gear so you know you haven't forgotten anything. In the morning, all you have to think about it putting in your bag.

4. Wake up to natural light
When your alarm first goes off, put up your blinds and let the natural light come into your room. This is much better for waking up than turning on your artificial light which, in my opinion makes you feel worse.

5. Get some exercise
Whenever you might want to get up a bit earlier and go for a run or walk or you prefer to do some exercises once you are up. Getting your body moving will result in you feeling better for the rest of the day.

Hope everyone is surviving their last few weeks at school! One week to go for me...I am so ready for it.
Some proper posting coming up soon!

  2. I love waking up to natural light. Sometimes I only close my blinds halfway so I don't even need an alarm anymore!
