christmas gift guide

Every Christmas that this blog (and previous blogs) have seen, I've put together a christmas gift guide for you and this year is no different!

Right now I'm loving blues, marble and copper which easily shows through this collage. I think I went over kill with the amount of things from General Eclectic in this collage but I just love their homewares so much!! I also recently (yesterday!!) got my ears pierced and I'm already eyeing up so many earrings that I can buy after the 6 weeks is up.

I can't believe how close it is to Christmas, this year has flown by and we are so close to twenty sixteen...but more on that in another post! I've got heaps planned for the blog so keep checking back over Christmas/New Year.

YAY FOR CHRISTMAS!

Christmas Gift Ideas

My exams are done and it's December. That means two things. It's my summer break....and it's coming up to Christmas!!

Today I have partnered up with Avery Labels again to bring you a Christmas filled video. Using their labels I have created two christmas gift ideas that you can make yourself at home with easy materials that you have around the house (yes, including toilet paper rolls!).

One // Gingerbread Cookies
The recipe for the ginger bread is here on the Chelsea Sugar website. I dipped them in melted white chocolate and let them set in the fridge.

I've used Avery's Party Bag Kits to make a Christmas themed topper for the plastic bags that also come with them.

Two // Christmas Crackers
Christmas Crackers are really easy to make at home because all you need are old toilet paper rolls, some snaps (easy to find at $2 shop) and some wrapping. I used silver cellophane but if you want them to actually snap you need some paper that easily rips - try silver wrapping paper as an alternative.

To decorated I used Avery's Oval Glossy Labels to make a decorative Christmas tree label.

Enjoy and happy Advent!

christmas cheer

I hope you all had the most amazing christmas filled with lots of fun, family and friends!!

Now it's the countdown to new years...can you believe it's almost 2015!!!

I thought I would pop in to share some of my christmas pressies. Now I just want to clarify that in no way do I mean to brag. I love sharing things with you guys and I hope you see it as just that!

So this year I asked for a couple of things for my room, the little concrete and copper pot and the plant cosy. I'm actually going to use it for my washi tape though. I've got a new room tour coming soon so look out for it!

I also as usual got spoiled with lots of stationery including notebooks, watercolours, Washi tape (Karen Walker!! Ahh!) and a Kikki.K voucher! Yay!!

My favourite presents were these three things! The top is what my parents gave me and it's a crop tee from a NZ brand called Commoners that I've been wanting for ages! I love it so much.

The handbag is from Karen Walker and I'm pretty sure it's my favourite hand bag ever. It's even got a black and white spot lining. It's just so perfect.

I also got new jandals and a beach towel perfect for the upcoming summer! We have had the most amazing weather here the past week! So hot at work that their hasn't been much sailing....but lots of swimming!

Thanks so much for letting me share my presents with you!
See you for some new year posts soon

it's christmas // wrap it up

Welcome to round 2 of christmas on vanilla craft!! Can you believe it's only 10 days to christmas! That's pretty hard to believe...the last month of 2014 is flying by!!
So it's finally the summer holidays so I've got so much blogging planned since I'll have heaps of time!

Today I'm partnering with FUJI FILM to show you some christmas wrapping including a free printable!!!

So Fuji Film have this awesome website called FUJI FILM Imagine where you can print your photos onto almost anything. Photo books, calendars, canvas and wrapping paper. The lovely people at Fuji Film sent me some wrapping paper and of course I decided to have a tile wrapping paper of instaxes! But you could do anything - even a print you created in photoshop, but photos are great. I just scanned in a selection of polaroids that I had lying around and uploaded them to the website.

So I wrapped these presents in the wrapping paper and paired it with some candy cane striped twine and a instax print!!

So I've also got a free printable for you today. I made this candy cane and word gift tags - I'm loving red and white stripes this christmas, I'm sure you can see the recurring theme!

There are three different types of tags, the words: merry, love and joy.
I've also got two wrapping paper designs for you: triangles and candy cane!

Download it here // Free PDF christmas printable

My last idea is of course to get crafty!!! Get creative, use paint, stamps, thread, glitter and make it your own. I did a simple gold circle design and also had a go at a triangle stamp. Also a special ribbon is also very pretty!!

I hope these ideas may have sparked an idea! If you do any cool wrapping, I would love to see

it's christmas // gold paper wreath

hello!!
It's christmas time and if you are excited as I am, you must be pretty pumped! The decorations, the presents, the food and finally SUMMER!! Well for me it is anyway!
I'm starting the christmas season with a fine diy paper wreath that looks oh so pretty but elegant in gold.

what you need //
white cardboard (A3 sheet) // gold paper - or paint your own // scissors // double sided tape or glue // pencil

step 1 // trace a donut style circle onto your white cardboard for your base. You can decide how much space you want, but you will have two layers so make it bigger than you would want it.

step 2 // Create a template and trace your leaf shape onto the back of your gold paper

step 3 // cut out your leaf shapes carefully

step 4 // Fold your leaves in half to create a shadow and highlight effect as well as a more realistic and 3D look

step 5 // Create a layer of overlapping leaves around your base using double sided tape

step 6 // You want to be able to create a second layer of leaves in the middle of the first layer and continue to overlap

Now hang your elegant wreath on your bedroom door....I don't suggest outside but enjoy it outside!
see you next week

DIY Advent Calendar // Welcome to Christmas

Yay!! It's Advent. Happy Advent and Christmas Month everyone!! I finally got round to making my advent calendar, around 3 days late. But it was worth it and I love it so so much. I've never made an advent calendar so I loved trying to think of different ideas. I had an idea for matchboxes but I didn't have 24 matchboxes or the energy to make 24 matchboxes. I've used brown paper envelopes and present shapes from Kikki-K gift bags instead. But I think I love it even more than I would have.

I added lots of photos from Social Print Studio and chocolates into my calendar and I am going to add activities cards into the days for after school is over. I only have just over a week to go so I'm getting really excited and my brain is slowly transferring to holiday mode. I can't wait to have lots of spare time to make Christmas crafts and celebrate the new year.

I also went to Taylor Swift's Red Tour Concert on Saturday night. It was amazing and I really want to go again. If any of you Australia readers are going, you definitely have something to look forward too, she is incredible and the show is amazing. You will be mesmerised. x Harri

P.S. I'm so so close to 100 hundred followers. I've got something exciting planned for when I reach it!! x
